Jewellery spotlight today goes to the Quatre collection by Boucheron. Each is set with pavé diamonds, which I love because it means the surface is neatly covered. I also think that despite each piece being full of diamonds, they still manage to look minimal due to the parallel lines.
One of the main points to consider when you're buying jewellery is generally how precious or unique it makes you feel. Even if you're buying a piece because it reflects a particular trend or mimics something lovely that you've seen on a friend, you still want yours to be that little bit better, right? These necklaces by Balagan jewellery are made from hand picked, real leaves, which means every single one is going to be completely unique. Each leaf is coated with a copper based finish and then dipped into precious metals such as silver and rose gold. I think they're beautifully delicate and such a romantic notion to have something cast from a real leaf around your neck.
Leaf Necklaces can be purchased from Milla Grace
As much as I love clothes (and that love is not to be underestimated) I definitely am, and probably always will be, a little bit more in love with jewellery. I think my love stems from always being obsessed with tiny, intricate things when I was a child. I had every Polly Pocket set you could think of, which I preferred way more than dolls, and started to collect detailed paperweights when I was little because I was slightly obsessed with the idea of tiny worlds wrapped in delicate glass. Even when I got a little older and started to get interested in art throughout school and my art degree, I ended up making work about patterns that required the most steely determination drawing small parts, and creating my own table top worlds made out of mirrors, foil and sparkling light effects. I'm pretty sure this inherent love I have for things that sparkle translates into the affinity I feel with jewellery. I'm not sure that I even have a particular jewellery style, or trend that I prefer, such is the love I have for too many trends (although I'm a firm believer in one statement piece rather than a a host of pieces that no one bothers to look at). Also, unlike clothing, with jewellery I never have to wonder if that beautiful dress is going to fit over my hips, or whether that jumper makes me look twice my size. I'm never going to have that problem with a gorgeous necklace or bracelet, and I think that makes me love jewellery even more.
Lately I've been trawling the internet for some visual diaries, blogs and pinterest accounts regarding jewellery but I can never find that many, so instead of constantly pouring pictures in to my pinterest account, I'm going to use this space to showcase pieces or jewellery designers that I love at the moment. Similarly, if any readers know of any great designers or accounts to follow then get in touch via Twitter or email me at natashanicoleillustration [at] gmail.com
